ELMEND0RF FILLY WINS IN ENGLAND BY E. E. C0USSELL. LONDON, England, August 4. The Sussex Stakes at Brighton, the week, following Goodwood, was .won by Star Grass in sucli convincing fashion that she showed clearly she was second best to Service Kit in the Stewards Cup on her merits. Earlier in the year she defeated a fast band in the Epsom Handicap of ,SG5, run over seven-eighths of a mile. Her pedigree on the dams side is of American origin. Star Grass is a brown filly by Sunstar Waterwillow, by Watercress. She came from the Elmendorf Stud and was sold at auction in England. Mr. J. D. Joel gave ,000 for her. Star Grass won him several races. Waterwillow, which is not admitted to the English Stud Book, is a daughter of Maxine, by Maxim Flcurctte, by Glenelg, from a mare by Virgil. This is the family which Firenze, Florizcl. Water ..Pearl and IIurstlKiurne made famous, to say nothing of the mighty Hindoo, sire of Hanover.
