HILL BLOCK took a quick lead and raced THE MANAGERESS into early defeat, but came wiile on the stretch turn and had to be shaken up and ridden out to outstay NELLIE LE:.IO.. The latter finished fast next to. the inside rail and was running fastest of all. THE CIGARETTE raced close up throughout and held on gamely at the end. THE MANAGERESS quit. PERRUM began sluggishly. The latter raced forwardly and., finishing fast, was slowly wearing the winner down. SCARPIA II. was much used in chasing after TALENT and tired, but stood the final drive well. TONY had no mishaps.
