RICHARD V. AND CRUMPSALL Win the Two Long-Distance Races at Thorn-cliffe Park Captain B. Fails Admirers. TORONTO, Out., September 20. Long-distance racing was given a place on todays program at Thorncliffe Park, both the fourth and sixth races being at one and one-eighth miles and they resulted in good contests. Richard V. defeated Bond iu the fourth race after a stirring struggle all the way, while Crumpsall and Dr. Shafer furnished a surprise by finishing ahead of Prospector in the sixth race. James Arthurs Alva repeated his victory of the opening day when he won the first dash of the afternoon, triumphing over Marsdale in a rattling good finish. Captain B. was the big disappointment of the day. He was an odds-on choice in the second race, but finished in the rear after a poor performance. The weatljer was summerlike and a large crowd was present. For rough riding during the running of the last race yesterday jockey M. Schwartz was set down by the stewards for the remainder of the meeting. Jockey H. B. Bower is on the ailing list and was unable to ride today. For misbehavior while at the post today jockey I. Gordon was suspended for the remaining days of this meeting. Jockey W. Kelsay was an arrival in the city today. He will pilot Exterminator in his Toronto Autumn Cup engagement at Woodbine on Saturday.
