CHURCHILL DOWNS NEXT WEDNESDAY LOUISVILLE, Ky., October 5. Churchill Downs never looked prettier than it does now in all Its autumnal glory, with everything in readiness for the ten days of racing that begins one week from today, Wednesday, October 12. Racing secretary W. H. Shelley has completed the program for the first six days of the meeting. The Falls City Handicap of ,000 added is the stake attraction for the opening day and, witli fifty-eight of the best handicap horses in Kentucky eligible to start in it, a great race is in prospect. The remainder of tho inaugural program is so arranged to bring together the best horses of the various divisions and should furnish delightful sport for the immense crowd that is certain to be present. Tho big two-year-old race of the meeting, the 0,000 added Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, will be run on Saturday, October 15, while for the final day, Saturday, October 22, has been reserved the Louisville Cup and the Golden Rod Handicap, each of ,000 added. There are quite a number of horses here already, both at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park. As there will bo no racing in Kentucky ou Monday and Tuesday of next week, tho owners racing at La-tonia will have ample time to ship their horses here after the close of the Covington track on Saturday next.
