CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF U. E. Davis has purchased tho contract of jocker X. Collins for ,000. Johnny Smith, who was badly hurt about the hips and legs in the opening day t;pill at Kempton Park, when the horse Talent was killed, is still unable to be about and it is unlikely that he will do any riding for several weeks. Jockey Josiah. who rode with considerable success during the summer Latonia meeting, will arrive at Latonia Monday to finish out the season and hwer go to New Orleans, where lie will ride next win tar. C. Jl. Ellison, who contemplates buying several horses, will have him in charge during the Crescent City meetings, and he will probably be attached to the A Baker stable in Kentucky, with "Buddy" Winsficld making his riding engagements.
