NEW FAME FOR GOLDEN CORN Wins the Middle Park Plate From Other Star English Two-Year-Olds with Ease. LONDON. England, October 14. The Middle Park Plate of 50 each, with 5,000 added, for two-year-olds at three-quarters of a mile over the Bretby Stakes course, was decided at Newmarket this -afternoon and resulted as follows: Marshall Fields Golden Corn, b. or br. f, by Golden Sun Corn Cockle, 120 pounds Dono- ghuc 1 Sol Joels Polyhistor, b. c, by Polymelus Lady Flo, 122 pounds Carslake 2 Kennedy Jones Flaming Orb, ch. c, by Flying Orb St. Filans, 122 pounds Gardner 3 Donald Frazers Dark Fox, br. c, by Son in Law Radegonde, 122 pounds Fox 4 Lord Wavertroes Baydon, b. c, by Itussley Manylands, 126 pounds Jones 5 There were only five starters. Golden Corn got away like a flash and was never headed. She won by three-quarters of a length, but could have won by several lengths, as she was under restraint for the entire race. A half length separated the second and third. The weather was fine and the track good. There was no explanation yet available about Tishys unexpected defeat In the Cesarewitch.
