MARSHALL FIELDS RACING PLANS NEW YORK, X. Y., October 2S. It is learned from an authentic source that Marshall Field III. is planning to follow up the recent registration of his colors with the Jockey Club by an active participation in racing here next year. Mr. Field went to Belmont Park Tuesday "with Robert L. Gerry and was an interested spectator while the Gerry yearlings went through their paces under the direction of trainer George Odom. It is rumored that Odom will train for both Mr. Gerry and Mr. Field next year, although this has iwt been confirmed as yet. Mr. Gerry was an extensive buyer of yearlings at the Saratoga sales. Both Mr. Gerry and Mr. Field have been observing the trials of the yearlings at the Long Island tracks and it is expected that Mr. Field will form the nucleus of his American stable by purchases of some youngsters which have shown promising workouts. Another report which gained some circulation at Empire City was to the effect that Thomas J. Henley will take over the horses of Walter J. Salmon to train next year in addition to those he will prepare for K. T. Wilson. Mr. Salmons string is now racing in Maryland under the direction of J. H. MacDonald, who replaced Eugene Wayland when the latter became persona non grata with the Maryland racing officials.
