ONTARIO TRACKS TAXATION Provincial Government to Exact Percentage on Betting Receipts. TORONTO. Out., February 2.1.— Legislation imposing additional taxation on all Ontario tracks is understood to be contemplated by the provincial government at the present session of the legislature. Resides the present heavy per diem levies on the various associations it is now proposed to exact a percentage of all betting receipts. Tin- proposed bill, together with numerous others of less interest. was considered at the government caucus last night, when Hon. Harry Mills, minister of mines: Hon. F. C. Biggs, minister of public works and high Stags, and Attorney-General W. B. Raney explained to the members the details of legislation which they intend introducing before many days. In the legislation governing the increased ra -e track taxation there may also be something to equalize the imposts on half mile and mile trac . — the former pay S2.ii00 per day of operation, aile the latter pay .u00. and according to their n social reports there is not nearly the same propoi .ion-ate difference in their earnings.
