i SNOW STOPS IMPORTANT MEETING » LONDON, England. April 1.— When starting time I arrived today at Newbury, the pretty Berkshire • course was covered with three inches of snow ! and racing had to be abandoned. The principal 1 item on the days program was the Newbuiy J Spring Cup, a handicap at one mil" for three-year-olds - and over; winner to receive ,500 and a cup valued at 50. There were thirty-five horses of f superior caliber ready to start, among which were I Soranus. Blue Lady, Charlebelle, Furious. Granely t ami Swynburn. There were no three-year-olds among ; the potential starters, but nineteen of the thirty-five wer-j four-year-olds.
