Graft, by Ascetic, carrying 161 pounds, won , the Scottish Grand National Steeplechase at ] Edinburgh Saturday by three-quarters of a length from Mythical, an eight-year-old, to c which he was conceding thirteen pounds. I Dunstanburgh was third and Drifter fourth. : Mythical and Drifter were favored oyer I the Sanford starter in the betting. Both were quoted at 6 to 1. while Sergeant Murphy I ruled at 8 to 1. Dunstanburgh was at 20 to 1. Fifteen horses started and ten of them . finished the stiff four-mile course. Sergeant ] Murphy conceded weight to every horse hall the field except Hectic, which carried 162 pounds. Mythical, which had been : racing in a contending position, moved up . rapidly and went into the lead coming to the last jump. Sergeant Murphy was far from done, however, and came again with a vigorous challenge in the rush to the finish line, forging ahead and winning by three-quarters of a length.
