MISS JOY FOR PREAKNESS 1 Star of Last Years Juvenile Fillies After Big I Maryland Race. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 17.— There is a suspicion in the Montfort Jones stable, which has wintered at Douerias Park, Louisville, and is being trained this year by Kay Spence, that a filly may be returned the winner of the 0,000 Preakness Stakes, to be run at - Pimlico on May 13. This is the first announcement that Miss Joy, the star of the ; two-year-old fillies last year, may be a starter in the Preakness and that her work this | spring has been of such a character that her trainer, Mr. Spence, feels justified in sending her against the colts this early in the » year. If she can win the Preakness it will be a wonderful victory and there will be great I rejoicing at Senator Camdens farm, where ; she was bred and who owns her sire and 1 dam. Incidentally, Fair Phantom and Miss 3 Joy are also entered in the Pimlico Oaks, but t they will be back in Kentucky in time to take part in the racing here. Montfort Jones stable has another entry r in the Preakness in St. Henry, whose races 3 last year showed him to be a high-class colt t quite worthy of his illustrious brothers and I blood, Sir Martin and Sir Barton. He came out of his last race at Pimlico last fall a t little lame, but this spring he is going absolutely sound and his work at Churchill 1 Downs, under the guidance of John E. Madden, . his half-owner, has been entirely satisfactory- . Mr. Madden hoped to start St. . Henry in the Derby, but he is hardly ready • to go the mile and a quarter, and it is believed - that the mile and an eighth will suit t him better at this time. This colt is also eligible to the Belmont Stakes, for which, unfortunately, - Morvich was not entered, and it might be that if he misses in the Preakness he will have better luck in the Belmont, another - 0,000 stake which is not run until 1 June.
