MORVICHS GREAT SPEED Gives Truly Wonderful Exhibition at Jamaica Working FiveEighths in 58 NEW YORK N Y May 3 Benjamin Blocks Morvich gave a truly wonderful ex ¬ hibition of speed at the Jamaica course where he was the added attraction of the day He worked fiveeighths in 58 and was cased up to the threequarters post in 1 12 Had he been permitted to run through the final eighth he would have finished out the threequarters in 1 10 in the opinion of most of the horsemen who timed the move moveTrainer Trainer Burlew brought Morvich on the track with McAtee in the saddle and accom ¬ panied by a lead pony shortly after the run ¬ ning of the Suffolk Stakes After a slow parade past the stands the lead pony un ¬ moored the son of Runnymede and gave him a dash of almost a sixteenth of a mile at the threequarters post from which he was to work With a long frictionless stride he rushed to the first eighth mark in 11 The quarter was reached in 21i threeeighths in 33 half in 45 and the fiveeighths in 58 From there to the finish of his gallop he was being eased up slightly to finish in 112 112If If Burlew has taught him to stay while he has taught him speed he has every right to be the most talked of horse eligible for the Kentucky Derby Stable plans are that Mor ¬ vich with his pony will be shipped to Louis ¬ ville Sunday It is probable he will have another good work before he leaves
