June 6 It was a fea ¬ tureless day at Bclmont Park today and the muddy track and overcast sides did not make the sport enjoyable The card waa scratched liberally on account of the track and weather conditions and in two of tho races there were only three horses appearing under silks silksThe The nearest approach to a feature was tho Bouquet Selling Stakes for twoyearolds over the straight fiveeighths This race was worth 4300 to tho winner New Hamp ¬ shire from the stable of Max Hirsch J S Cosdens Brilliance finished second and Anonymous a Joseph E Widener starter heat the Goodstone Stables Black Monkey for third thirdTho Tho start was a good one and Brilliance New Hampshire and Black Monkey wero showing the way to the others Brilliance and Black Monkey were racing along on tho inside while New Hampshire was well to ¬ wards the outside of the course courseBefore Before the grandstand was reached New Hampshire had shaken off the other two and he was racing along strongly in front while Black Monkey was beginning to tire Right at that stage Raffles one of tho Widencr starters moved up in resolute fash ¬ ion and it was a surprise when his stable mate Anonymous was placed third when it appeared that he was the one that was in a fair way to earn that part of the purse purseAt At the end New Hampshire was doing his best to win by a length and a half while a like distance separted the second and third horses The others were rather badly strung out and it was plain that the going waa a serious handicap to some of them themONLY ONLY THREE IN HANDICAP HANDICAPOnly Only three went to the post in the three quarters Ilighweight Handicap and Georgo W Lofts On Watch the top weight under 140 pounds was winner from Bud Fishers Muskallonge The Quincy Stables Mystic was last The finish was close for the rea ¬ son Muskallonge was coming again right at tho end after being apparently thoroughly beaten beatenMuskallonge Muskallonge was the one to cut out tho pace and he was going exceedingly well in front almost to the stretch turn There ho pinned his ears and refused to extdnd him ¬ self Sande was working on the Loft horno at the same time and an eighth from tho finish he drew out readily Then in the last sixteenth Muskallonge began to run fast again with the result that he wan lapped on the winner at the end Mystic was outrun from end to end endTho Tho Amityville Selling Handicap was tho second threehorse race of the day after both David Harum and Tufter had been withdrawn Jt was at a mile and a sixteenth and Mrs T O Webbers Wynnewood finding the soft footing grateful to his old legs was a handy winner with the Quincy Stablea Teddy R second and R J Murphys Thimblo last all the way wayWynnewood Wynnewood went right to Use front at the start and Lang rated him into a good early lead and then had only to sit slill and permit him to gallop along in front In the early stages Ponce had Teddy R under slight restraint but he let him down going to the stretch turn and then moved up until Lang swung his whip twico to rouse Wynne wood That was all that was necessary and the Webber gelding jumped away again and at the end he was going easily with plenty to spare The race run by Thimble was a dull one oneCRYSTAL CRYSTAL FORD TAKES OPENER OPENERThe The opening dash was a mile for platers and W C Clancy furnished the winner la Ills old campaigner Crystal Ford Mrs M V Dalys Cromwell raced into second placa and third was tho portion of J Browns Title TitleCamoufour Camoufour and Fantocho were away bad ¬ ly but tho others left the pest in good align ¬ ment Cromwell favored in the muddy go Ing rushed to the front but Crystal Ford waa not far back and Titlo also raced for wardly This was the order through the backstretch but turning out of the straight Crystal Ford easily moved to the front and tho raco was practically over overSwinging Swinging Into the stretch Crystal Ford went out slightly and there Tltlo mado a bid on the Inside but it was short lived and Cromwell coming again readily beat him for second place but Crystal Ford was winner by a couple of lengths with plenty to spare Continued on eleventh pazc FEATUSELESS BELMONT CAED Continued on eleventh page The others were strung out with Cumoufleur under a misarafoly weak ride by H Moore a bad last x xE E B McLeans Saddle and Boots was the winner of the fifth race of a mile after a stretch fight with Fred Burlews Irish Briga ¬ dier while George W Lofts JIalu was a distant third The only other starters wero Lally and Bud Fisher FisherIrish Irish Brigadier was the one to set all the pace and Hud Fisher went after him un ¬ til threeeighths from the finish Sandu moved up resolutely with Ilalu and when he was forced to go to the outside of the leaders at tho end of the stretch he was carried a bit wide This was what gave Saddle and Boots his chance and Fator rushed him through on the inside There was a sharp battle and the McLean threeyearold was up to win by a neck When Ilalu was well beaten he was cased up by Sande to finish third thirdSecretary Secretary A McL Earlocker is busily en ¬ gaged with the book for tho Saratoga meet ¬ ing ingJames James Fitzsimmons who will send Relay to the post for the Belmont Stakes for tho Quincy Stable Saturday is one trainer who rates Snob II as a better colt than Morvich He had tho same opinion last year and tho performances of the son of Prestige this year have strengthened the belief beliefThe The Salubria Stables Ilea will have a use ¬ ful trial for the Belmont Stakes tomorrow in a race at Belmont Park Ho
