BUYS FAMOUS FRENCH STUD F. R. Hitchcock Purchases from Mrs. H. B. Duryea Noted Haras du Gason Farm. SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. PARIS, France, July 19. F. R. Hitchcock, the American turfman and breeder, has purchased the Haras du Gazon at Bazoches.n Houlme, department of Orne, France, from Mrs. Herman B. Duryea, according to exclusive information obtained by the Daily Racing Form correspondent today. The consideration is not known. The deal docs not include the rich blood stock now at the farm. A French syndicate is negotiating for the purchase of Durbar H., the eleven-year-old bay stallion by Rabelais Armenia, by Meddler, but othev offers for this successful sire have also been received by Mrs. Duryea and his ultimate purchaser remains in doubt. The mares and 1922 foals from the Duryea establishment will be sold at auction either in New York or Paris during the month of October. Arrangements have yet to be completed for the dispersal sale, but the rare quality of the matrons to be offered and the fine blood lines of their produce make it certain that the auction will be awaited with deep interest by breeders and turfmen of two continents. The Haras du Gazon played an important part in French breeding for a number of years and many winners have been foaled within its confines. Among the recent notable products of the Duryea establishment may bo mentioned Zenoia, by Sweeper Zuna, which was unbeaten as a two-year-old last year, and Pellsie, winner of this years Prix du Diane, or French Oaks.
