LOUISVILLE RACING NEARS Attractive Program of Stakes and Purses for the First Week at Churchill Downs. LOUISVILLE, Ky., August 19. The program book for the first eight days of the Churchill Downs fall meeting, which will usher in fall racing in Kentucky on August 30, has been issued by racing secretary William II. Shelley. Two ?5,000 added stakes, the Falls City Handicap and the Golden Rod Handicap, feature the initial week of racing. On other days attractive overnight handicaps and purses will serve as headliners. The inaugural feature, Wednesday, August 30, will be the Falls City Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, at a mile and an elghh. This event can bring together such performers as Bet Mor.ie. Best Pal, John Finn, Lady Madcap. United Verde, Dr. Clark, Rouleau, High Cloud, Fhebrand. Distinction, Margaret Winsor. Parader, Radio, Deadlock, Minto II. and Thibodaux. Weights for the race will be announced next Thursday. The Golden Rod Handicap, for two-year-olds, at seven-eighths to be run Saturday, September 2, attracted such fast ones as Boys Believe Me, Blossom Time, Cartoonist, Cherokee, Triumph, Punta Gorda, Hopeless, Banter, Metric, Dream Maker, Dan E. OSullivan, A ice Blue Gown, Skeezix, Kent L., Vennie, Prince K., Dust Flower, Anna M. Humphrey, Bo McMillan, Donges and Tip Toe Inn. In adaition to the Falls City Handicap, the opening card will be featured by the Seel-bach Hotel Handicap, at three-quarters, for three-year-olds and over. The Watterson Hotel Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, will be the added attraction on Saturday, September il. The second day will have a double feature, the Shawnee Park Purse, for three-year-olds and over, at a mile and seventy yards, and the Tyler Hotel Purse, for three-year-olds, at three-quarters. The Oklona Purse, for two-year-olds, at five and a half furlonss, and the Middletown Purse, for three-year-olds, at three-quarters, will be decided Friday, September 1.
