Won driving; second and third the same. ETHEL CLAYTON set a fast pace, saved ground on the turns and, under hard riding, just lasted to outstay VAN PATRICK. The latter, suddenly improved, dropped back after going the first eighth, but came with a rush at the end. BRIAND was taken up after the start, but closed an immense gap and ran the best race. ROCKERY tired after being prominent. NICKNAME was always outrun. DAPPER DAN raced in closest pursuit to the last eighth and quit. MESSINES raced to the leader with a rush, but swerved out on the stretch turn and was tiring in the final sixteenth. BULLION ran well and was coming fast at the end. BULLET PROOF closed a big gap. FIREBRAND was saved close up on the inside to the last eighth, then challenged resolutely and, pas ing BRILLIANT JESTER, was going away at the end. BRILLIANT JESTER showed the most early speed and set a fast pace, but tired in the final sixteenth. JOHN FINN came wide on the stretch turn, but finished well. SPANISH MAIZE came through on the inside on the stretch turn and made a game finish. BUNGA BUCK could not keep up and ran a bad race for him. TYCOON raced forwardly in close and game pursuit throughout and saved ground on the stretch turn. BUCADO meed prominently all the way. LADY BOSS closed up some ground. KIRK LADY had no mishaps.
