NOBLEST OF IRISH MARES The great Irish mare Diadem, by Orby Donnetta, by Donovan, ran lier last race in the English Cambridgeshire Handicap in which, under 124 pounds, she ran second to Brigand. Diadem was a brilliant and honest figure in four years of performance. She is owned by Lord dAbernon, an Irish publicist and ardent turfman, and was bred by the late Richard Croker at Glencairn. During Diadems career she has raced twenty-five times in the best company and won seventeen of her races, including the One Thousand Guineas of 1917. In her eight defeats she was second three times, third twice and unplaced three times. Her winnings have been 1,010 in the four years.
