Won handily; second and third driving. SLING took the lead at once and, setting a good pace, won all the way, but tired 6lightly nnd was hard ridden to maintain his advantage. KIRKLEVINGTON raced prominently throughout and finished fast and gamely. BRIGHT LIGHTS followed the leaders closely in the early running and lost ground when entering the stretch, but came again and was also gaining at the 1 finish. JOCOSE closed a gap and was going fastest of aU in the closing strides. EVIL, oil well, saved I ground on the turns and had no mishaps. TIMBREL ran away a mile before the start and was pulled up after the barrier ascended. DUNLIN, off forwardly, followed the leader3 under restraint until I well into the stretch, then responded resolutely to hard riding and, wearing ZEV and GOSHAWK down, j headed them and won drawing clear. GOSHAWK set a fast early pace and, after being passed, was j saved until after rounding the last turn, then closed up gamely and outfinished ZEV in the final drive. ! ZEV raced into a clear lead while rounding the last turn and, saving much ground, made a game finish, but tired in the final sixteenth mile under hard riding. CARTOONIST began slowly, but worked hi3 way up gradually between his opponents and finished fast and gamely. ENCHANTMENT began flatfooted, I but closed an immense gap and ran an excellent race. EXTERMINATOR took the lead and, setting an excellent pace under restraint for a mile and a half, then, when challenged, held his advantage resolutely and outstayed MAD HATTER in an exciting 1 finish. MAD HATTER followed EXTERMINATOR closely under an easy pull and appeared capab!e of taking the lead when called on and, finishing gamely, was gaining slowly, but steadily, in the last strides. I BON HOMME, hard held in the early running, made an ineffectual effort to race to the leaders after going a mile and a quarter, but could not get up and was cased up in the stretch. The latter, under restraint in the early running, took the lead at the eighth post, but tired when challenged. SPUGS gradually improved his position and would have been third in another stride SCOTTISH CHIEF saved ground on the turns, but could , never improve his position. SEARCH LIGHT III. stumbled and almost unseated his rider on the i backstretch. ARAPAnOE set a good pace, but tired in the last quarter.
