HUNTINGTON FALL RACING HUNTINGTON, W. Va.. September 14. Witli the return of J. F. Peck, general manager of the Tri-State Fair Association, plans for the coming race meeting here October 16 to 21 have been announced. While at Churchill J3owns Mr. Peck conferred with the most prominent turfmen in the West and secured the promise of about 150 horses to participate in the coming meeting here. About the same number of horses will be shipped here from Hagerstown, Md. Announcement of the appointment of the following racing officials has just been made by Mr. Peck : Presiding judge, W. E. Phillips ; associate judge, J. F. Peck ; racing secretary, W. H. Pearce ; handicapper, W. IT. Pearce ; starter, Thomas Brown ; patrol judge, James B. Clendennin ; paddock judge, James Polk; patrol judge, Duke RidgJey; timer, Joseph Umensetter. Huntington now boasts of the only mile race track in West Virginia, The coming race meeting is to be held in connection with the state fair. The purses will range in value from 00 to ,000. No purse will be less than 00. The track has been completed and the work on the grandstand is also about finished. Already sufficient stables have been built to take care of 300 horses.
