VALADOR began slowly and raced on the outside, but closed a gap and finished fast BETTER TIMES showed speed, but tired badly in the final sixteenth. ST. LAWRENCE showed early speed. WHALEBONE alternated in pacemaking, saved ground on all the turns and finished gamely. TIDINGS raced well and was gaining jit the end. BODANZKY closed up some ground. The latter ran a good race, finished gamely and had no mishaps, but was weakly ridden. SALT PETER closed a gap and finished fast on the inside. PIETRUS set a good pace to the last eighth and tired.
