RADIO AGAIN TRIUMPHS Defeats United Verde by Inches in Dade Park Feature. Big Crowd in Attendance and the Speculation Heavy -Dispute for Grayson Victory. HENDERSON,, Ky.. November 11. The McCurdy Hotel Handicap furnished a thrilling finish this afternoon at Dade Park and resulted in another well-merited victory for Radio, which in his preceding start triumphed over Rockminister and Cherry Tree in the Latonia Cup of two and a quarter miles. On this occasion he had to he ridden out in terrific fashion to get up in time to rose out United Verde, with Runquoi in third place. The race was at a mile and an eighth, for a purse of ,000. and featured the card. It brought to the post six starters, with Lady Astor a slight favorite. Any chance this filly might have had was completely spoiled as a result of a poor ride. Runquoi was away first under Petzoldfs alert riding and set a fast pace, with Plus Ultra and United Verde in close pursuit. On reaching the last sixteenth post Runquoi tired and United Verde then moved to the front. In the meantime Radio had been saved from the fast pace and when called on at the last turn moved up with great speed that soon brought him on even terms with United Verde. Then it was that the real race began. The pair raced like a team through the final eighth and so close was the finish that the winner remained in doubt nntil the official placing was announced. Lily M. was made favorite in the third race and the diminutive "W. Fronk rode her faultlessly and she won after leading for the entire contest. The surprise of the race was Put and Take, which, after acting badly and beyond the control of her rider while going to the post, cantering off half a mile, put up a splendid performance and took second place, aided by Thurbers inability to keep Bedazzle from going wide in the stretch. THURBERS POOR RIDE. Thurbers ride on Twinkle Blue was decidedly off and a poorly-judged one at best. He had this favorite all over the track and finally managed to land in third place. Grayson winning after leading for the entire race from Amanda. Someone made a mistake here at time of entry, for the conditions called for starters that" had not won at a mile or over distance during 10-2. Grayson was a winner at Mobile during the spring at a mile and seventy yards. Amandas owner filed a protest against the payment of the purse. Topmost, an overwhelming .favorite, furnished the outstanding surprise of the day as a result of his poor showing and brought up a bad last in the field of six that he met in the sixth race. He was given a poor ride, but, at that, the colt failed to show much speed and was always far back in the running. Harvest King was the winner, with Mahony and Bojul fighting it out for second place. Dade Park presented this afternoon more of a racing air than any former day and a real big attendance was on hand to witness the sport. Marked improvement in the volume of speculation was the order today, it being by far the best day of the meeting from a betting standpoint. Close finishes featured in most of the dashes, several being particularly close, with the winners in doubt until the final strides. " E. R. Bradley added another purse to his score here when Boy from Home led home the favorite, Isosceles, in the initial dash to win with speed in reserve. Green Gold had just as easy a time of it in the second race, leading throughout and winning decisively from Blossom House and Orlova.
