, CHARLES HEAD SMITH i 1 i Mr. Smith, who accepted a berth on the Finance Committee of the New Washington Park Breeders Association, is well known among- the horsemen of the United States and Canada. In 1900 his colt Lieut. Gibson, ran third in the American Derby, won the Kentucky Derby, also the Latonia Derby, and, as the genial Board of Trade broker puts it, he has caught the fever again and wants to get back in harness. Mr. Smith is a great sportsman and everyone is satisfied that he will be a world of power in the new organization.
