TO REVIVE WINTER SPORTS New Washington Park Breeders Association Includes Snow-Racing in Its Plans. The new Washington Park Breeders Association, which proposes to build one of the greatest race tracks in the country at River-dale, is including among its plans a revival of snow racing during the winter months. It was at the suggestion of one of the directors, William E. Dee, a wealthy manufacturer of this city. "The new Washington Park Breeders Association has offered a solution of the problem," said Mr. Dee. "Its plans call for two tracks, one of a mile and a half and another of a mile. As a member of the finance committee I have requested permission of the governing board to allow me to organize a permanent winter sports committee and will act as chairman of the committee myself. The proposition is to have the track superintendent arrange the track formation so that we will have a first-class snow surface on the complete course of the mile track. The track being 100 feet wide throughout the stretch will give ample room for any number to compete in the short sprints of half-mile and live-eighths of a mile. Those who desire to stable at the new - track can do so free of charge. "As an incentive to encourage the winter sports," said Mr. Dee, "those who want can have barn rent free, and from present indications the likelihood is that the committee, when properly organized, can get several hundred enthusiasts lined up to take part in the daily matinees. "The committee in charge will create an interest by providing both cups and purses that will be an incentive to make keen competition in all branches. "The track is idle during the winter months and with the clubhouse, the perfect train service and the boulevards there is no good reason why the winter sports cannot be developed along with the summer program." The matter was taken up with Judge Jo- seph A. Murphy and he was heartily in accord with the undertaking, so there is nothing to hinder the program. Mr. Dee has nothing to stop him and both Billy Myer and William J. Murray have been requested by Judge Murphy to outline their work so as to take care of next winters program. Horsemen who were approached at the International Show were enthusiastic on the matter and many left their names and addresses and asked that membership blanks be forwarded as soon as the undertaking was launched.
