SUN BRIAR LOS ALTOS COLT Interests California Turfmen the Dam Being Product of Golden State Breeding Farm SAX FRANCISCO Cal February 9 Horsemen hereabouts are much interested in the report from Willis Shstrpe Kilmers Sun Briar Court in New York that the most prom ¬ ising twoyearold at the big Haras is a son of Sun Briar and the Californiabred Los Altos James McDonnell who was su ¬ perintendent of the late William OBrien Macdonoughs Ormondale Stock Farm at San Mateo said today that Los Altos was bred by Prince Poniatowski who is remembered principally as the man who put Tanfpran on the racing map about twenty years ago agoThe The prince owned St Kristine daughter of St Carlo and imported Kissing Crust and sent her to the court of Palo Alto a grand ¬ son of Hanover which was then standing at the town of the same name For some years now Palp Alto has been at Charles T Boots Elmwood Stock Farm Milpitas J W Paulson has owned Palo Alto ever since he raced in George Strates colors at Emeryville and the stallion may be repre ¬ sented at the meeting to open at Tanforan November 3 Prince Poniatowski returned from breeding and owning thoroughbreds at about the same time ht gave way to the late Tom Williams in the race track war and Los Altos daughter of Palo Alto and St Kristine passed to the owenrship of J J Moore and then to William OBrien Mac donough donoughSuperintendent Superintendent McDonnell took the mare East along with other fashionablybred mat ¬ rons following the death of the owner of Ormondale Stock Farm and she was sold to W S Kilmer KilmerKissing Kissing Crust a daughter of Sweetbread and the young Melbourne mare Caress was the first mare purchased in England by Mac donotigh who later paid a record price for Ormonde and bred the Futurity winner and successful sire Ormondale and other high class horses horsesPalo Palo Alto was a fair performer at the races and his daughters are in demand for service in the breeding paddock In one of his best races at Emeryville H G Bedwells Mad ¬ man which later went into the stud de ¬ feated him by a nose in the busiest kind of a finish in the Pacific Union Handicap Palo Alto was 100 to 1 in the books that day
