PREDICTS BANNER TURF YEAR Trainer James Rowe Optimistic Over Outlook for 1923 Racing Whitney Horses Thriving ThrivingNEW NEW YORK N T February 9 James Rowe trainer for Harry Payne Whitney on a flying visit to this city today predicted that the 1923 racing season in the United States will be the greatest and most prosper ¬ ous that the American turf has ever known The only thing that can prevent this he declared is serious complication of foreign affairs affairsMr Mr Rowe reported that all of the Whitney horses which are wintering at Brookdale Farm Redbank N J are in fine condition and he expects them to be ready when the spring racing opens at northern tracks tracksHalf Half a dozen of the Whitney mares have foaled at the farm and the youngsters seem to be sturdy and healthy healthyCommenting Commenting on the sale of The Finn to W R Coe Mr Howe expressed his belief that the owner of Shoshone Ranch had ob ¬ tained an excellent value as thoroughbred prices go these days The veteran trainer regards The Finn as a really highclass stock horse
