SUCCESSFUL MEETING Sunday SixtyFifth Day of Rac ¬ ing at Oriental Park Nearly 250000 Already Distrib Distributed uted Among Horsemen Principal Winners HAVANA Cuba February 12 Sunday marked the sixtyfifth day of the present successful winter season of racing at Ori ¬ ental Park and during that period 404 races wore run Favorites were successful in 155 while second choices accounted for 81 Third choices or outsiders scored in 1C8 Oddson favorites have won in 27 races while in 32 other contests they have suffered de ¬ feat The total purse distribution during the period amounted to 245025 which was shared by no less than 188 stables Two hundred and thirtyfive horses have won one or more races Perhaps owned by B B Hice tops the list of winning horses with seven winning purses to his credit Belle of Klizabcthtown and Chief Sponsor are the only ones which have won six races The livetime winners are The Pirate Marion ¬ ette and Cock o the Roost Six horses have been successful on four occasions these being Mountain Lassie Buddie Kean Margaret Ware Susiana Golden Chance and Mallow mot Quie a few have won three races racesOne One hundred and seventeen trainers have succeeded in saddling one or more winners Chief honors are shared by W B Finnegan J A Parson and K K Karrick who each have sent fifteen winners to the post Fol ¬ lowing are the other successful trainers with the a fiveyearold gelding by Luke McLuke Miss Georgia which has scored in seven races for total winnings of o225 This gelding which is the property of B B Rice has started eleven times has been second twice and unplaced in only two of his races In a recent race he ran threequar ¬ ters in 111 not far from the track record and equal t the best time for the distance made at this meeting Perhaps seems to improve WS age and in his present splendid form seenv destined to eclipse all records for the number of winning purses at the Cuban track Already he has equaled the record made by Belle of Elizabethtown in winning seven races last year Perhaps did not race at Oriental Park last year but two years ago he displayed good form at the local track by scoring in five races Owner Rice possesses a fine racing tool in this gelding and a bread winner of which he may well be proud proudSUCCESSFUL SUCCESSFUL TWOTEAROLDS TWOTEAROLDSWilliams Williams Brothers young stallion Iron Cross II is making a flying start for the leading sire honors of the twoyearold win ¬ ners at Oriental Park He is the first to send two juvenile winners to the post name ¬ ly Quail and Quash The first named has already won two races so that Iron Cross II actually is represented by three winners to date and he is likely to have more winners before the meeting closes Quail is re ¬ garded as the better one of the progeny of Iron Cross II having won his two last races In his other start which was his first he finished third Quail is from the good mare Chanteuse which has produced a number of winners In recent years Quash the other youngster that has also helped to bring Iron Cross II into the limelight is from the mare Krma which also has been successful in pro ¬ ducing winning horses Both youngsters were bred at the Williams farm near Black well Okla and Pete Williams their trainer is of the opinion that both will make good when they clash with other more fashionably youngsters on the Kentucky trades during the coming spring season seasonOpera Opera Glass Seth and Hells Bells are other sires that have had winning repre ¬ sentatives in the twoyearold races this year Opera Glass is the sire of Randalls Royal winner of the first juvenile race of the year His sire is a young stallion recently acquired by B A Jones and Randalls Royal is the first colt he has sent to racing Randalls Royal is
