Shamrock One thing is certain that the colt has an appropriate name for the big St Patricks day celebra ¬ tion and the hunch will undoubtedly at track many admirers despite the fact that the changed track conditions may bring others into the limelight that would receive little consideration with a fast track prevail ¬ ing Aside from Shamrock Edward Gray Setting Sun Blue Nose and Chiva each has its followers while Calcutta despite his recent disappointing showing will not bo overlooked especially over a muddy track where he is dangerous for any mans horse It should be a smashing contest a befitting climax to a most successful winter season o racing in the southern metropolis metropolisRepeating Repeating his fine performance of the other day Hermis Kemble C A Coyles fouryear old plowed his way through a heavy track to a popular victory in the Carondolet Handi ¬ cap the feature race over a mile and a six ¬ teenth Gondolier was second and Fannia Bean third Hermis Kemble shot to the lead shortly after the start and soon left his opponents far behind cantering over the finish line four lengths in front of Gondolier Ralco the second choice in the betting showed an early flash of speed but quit and finished a dismal last Gondolier was held back and saved but came with a rush in the stretch and displaced Fannie Bean for second place The latter ran a rather poor race for her but held the others safe for third money moneyE E K Brysons A J Buja was the oddsoi choice in the opener but as on former oc ¬ casions failed to earn brackets though today his chances were ruined when he was prac ¬ tically left at the post and ridden wide all the way He however closed a big gap to finish third behind Bonnie Jack and Lasses White The first mentioned of this pair waa backed down from 20 to 1 to 12 to 1 and won all the way easily easilyMinute Minute Man made a runaway of the sec ¬ ond race cantering home ten lengths in ad ¬ vance of his nearest opponent opponentTender Tender Seth followed Lady Rose closely from the start in the third race and nailing her in the last sixteenth outstayed her in an exciting finish Lady Rose had showed the way from the start and only surrendered after a game resistance The two were eight lengths in advance of the favorite Way wassamo which was roughly treated early in the race but probably would have been beaten anyhow anyhowHillhouse Hillhouse was helped by the going and racing into the lead on the last turn kept it but only won after a hotlyfought out set to with Little Ann The latter was press ¬ ing him hard at the end and ran a capital race Reel Foot ran well enough to tako third money a length in advance of the G to 5 favorite Macbeth MacbethThe The elderly Herald found things so much in his favor in the sixth race that he mado short work of it by leading all the way without trouble Burgoyne was always an active contender and finished a good sec ¬ ond while Phclan got up in time to taku third money
