JEFFERSON PARKS FUTURE FUTUREManager Manager Rouprich Announces Ambitious Plans for Next Winters Racing NEW ORLEANS La March IS It is planned to offer several stake races at the Jefferson Park December meeting two or three 5000 handicaps handicapsNotwithstanding Notwithstanding the fact that Jefferson Parks spring meeting of 1921 will cover only twelve racing days the Jefferson Parish As ¬ sociation according to manager Rouprich has decided definitely to adhere to its deter mination not to extend the local racing sea ¬ son beyond March 1 and will be satisfied with a twelveday meeting just to carry the Louisiana Derby through throughInterest Interest in the Derby has convinced us that it can be built into a race of nation ¬ wide interest said manager Rouprich The success we have met with this year when the race had no advertising whatever prior to the opening of the races here convinces such a stake race will be immensely bene ¬ ficial to the sport here and undoubtedly will elevate still further the standard of winter racing by bringing more hignciass young horses down downThe The more entries we receive in the Loui ¬ siana Derby the larger will the added money be and we feel justified in carrying it through even though our spring meeting of 1924 will be such a short one The race means much to New Orleans winter racing and Jefferson Park from the standpoint of favorable publicity that we believe it sTioul be as firmly established as racing itself and we hope to have the cooperation of the horsemen and the patrons of the sport in our effort to make the race a turf feature
