POLLY WALE AT HER BEST After Long1 Rest Conies Back and Scores in Tijuana Feature Private Teat Brakes It Double for San Dicffo DicffoStable Stable Heavily Backed Dolores DoloresWins Wins All the Way SAN DIEGO Cal March IS Patient waiting had its reward at the Tijuana track Saturday afternoon Heretofore Polly Wale a daughter of Uncle did not seem to be her ¬ self The San Diego Stable managed by W T Anderson had been quite sweet on this filly in her previous starts but yet she scemed to lack that good form she had dis ¬ played last year Finally she was given a long rest This proved beneficial to her and so when she went to the races she was fit and ready readyPolly Polly Wale won off by herself accounting for the afternoons feature a claiming han ¬ dicap at a mile and seventy yards Jockey W Pool took her right to the front and then it was a question of would she last out the distance She did with plenty to spare for there was quite a bit of daylight between the winner and Prince Direct In third position was Hyanpom HyanpomThis This was the second victory of the after ¬ noon for the San Diego Stable for this es ¬ tablishment scored previously when Private Peat ran an extremely good race to reach the wire first in the fourth race at five eighths of a mile mileThere There was an appreciable increase in the attendance the Tijuana Derby of Sunday drawing a big advance guard Prominent was the delegation of AksSarBen people from Omaha these being led by Edward Buckingham They were entertained during the afternoon by Mr and Mrs C P Irwin several members of the party occupying the Iiwin box boxJOIIXNY JOIIXNY DUNDEE VICTORIOUS VICTORIOUSA A flying filly was Dolores Saddled by J M Crane this daughter of Disguise showed all the others the way in the fifth race at five and a half furlongs She had the course much to herself in that she went to the front and was never headed The only bid to overtake the winner was that offered by Lucky Button It was a belated rush from the latter and she overcame Little Hope and was second but by this time Dolo ¬ res had been proclaimed the winner She was so well supported that she was one of the shortest priced winners of the meeting paying only 1 to 5 in the mutuels The over ¬ throw of a well supported favorite was noted in the seventh race at one mile and an eighth There was a preponderance of opinion that fair Orient would carry the colors of Col II L Baker to victory but here the talent went wrong for the closing rush of Fair Orient was a trifle late and the winner proved to be Johnny Dundee which was saved until rounding the far turn At this point he was taken to the front by Jockey Stevens and he easily held his opposition safe winning by five lengths Fannie Xail did her best after Continued on eighth page POLLY WALE AT HER BEST Continued from first page entering the stretch but it required quite an effort on her part to save the place from Fair Orient OrientIn In the initial event of the afternoon which was for twoyearolds King Heather again carried the colors of J W Marchbank to victory He was coupled with Lady Leigh ton as an entry but needed no help from the latter King Heather which was a trifle slow to get into motion assumed the lead before the race was many seconds old and once in front he won as his rider pleased The Marchbank entry was so well liked that the winners price was at the extremely short figures of 1 to 5 5There There were two claims during the after ¬ noon Private Peat was taken out of the fourth race by J Humbrecht who ran May ¬ flower The consideration was 900 In the last race Dalton was claimed by R M Hol lenbeck for 2300 In this race Dalton was second to Dr Johnson which made all the pace to win by a length lengthAnother Another who arrived today was Frank Hennessey a wellknown attorney of San Francisco He came here especially for the Tijuana Derby and the Coffroth Handicap He brought the word that there will be two special trains operated out of San Francisco for the Coffroth Handicap Mrs Hennessey accompanied him and for the Derby and Coffroth Handicap the two will see the events from president James Wood Coffroths box boxThere There was a sigh of regret when the once speedy sprinter Joe Blair disclosed that ho had gone to the races once too often This aged campaigner which still holds the worlds record for three and a half furlongs was made favorite in the third race a sprint of fiveeighths mile After making an early bid for the lead as always is his desire Joe Blair stopped suddenly and was far back at the finish Then it was noted that he had broken down in front The injury was so serious that jockey Pool dismounted and led the old fellow off the course
