The weather was again summery and the crowd was a big one. The going was fast and the entertainment pleasing despite the bad class of the horses that tilled the MIL In the mile and a half dash there was a half dozen starters and while they were low-class platers, at 1 ast five of them had. at one time and another, shown ability to race over SUCh a distance. The winner turned up in Attorney Muir and he was the easiest victor of tire afternoon. He was being eased up all through the stretch to beat Warlike and Austral home. For the first half mile Porin set the pace, but the others were under- restraint back of him. with Dr. Rao, Warlike and Attorney Muir closely lapped and showing the way to King Trojan. Abel elected to go to the front at the end of the tirst turn and sent Attorney Muir around the two leading horses at a pace that placed him well clear of them when the backstretch was reached. There he raced into a lead of five lengths Quickly and it was only a matter cf sitting si ill for the rest of the long race. He began fast and, prickly taking the lead, won all the way and was three lengths before Citation at the end. Serbian was a dose third, beating St. Germain for that part of the purse. There was a collision right at the start that knocked War Victory and Doctor Jim back badly arrd the Doctor-was not good enough to overcome this handicap, racing a bad last throughout. St. Germain, the one tir.it was expected to give Tingling an argument, was a bit unlucky on the first turn, where he was bumped and then he had to race on the outside. He dropped so far back irr the first half mile that he had no choice to take any part of the purse. Dorothy Ryan, a any that learned her [racing lesson in New Orleans, was the winner of the opening half-mile dash. Lee Adrin, another from New Orleans, need to second place and third fell to Princess Amo. Princess Amo saved third place from Rachel Potter-, which was greatly fancied before the running. There was a bit of an eZCUSe for Itachel Potter, as she was slightly cut off after the start and forced to be taken to the outside. She raced wide all the way. but Dorothy Ryan Won in a manner to leave no doubt of her being best today. Itll Kits COSTLY MISTAKE. It is probable that Hillhouse was best irr tlie second race, but he was beaten by PapiUon. a plater that began her racing in the stifle of Walter J. Salmon, but now raci s for F. B. Capra. There were two ran- sons lor the defeat of Hillhouse. In the first place he began a bit slowly and at the ■ •nd bis riiler made the fatal mistake of putting up his whip after the colt had headed Sultan, tie- only one he seemed to think he had to beat. iiiiihouse. under a stronger and more alert i ide. would surely have been the winner. Forest Queen and RomnneHi proved again a winning combination. This was ia the third race, a dash of six and a half furlongs out of the chute. The filly dominated the running, throughout and woa from Super under restraint, with Mom a distant third.
