RACING AT PHOENIX, ARIZ. SAN FRANCISCO, Cal., Nov. 1. W. P. Kyne, who conducted two successful meetings at Reno this year, predicts the firm establishment of the thoroughbred sport in the Southwest, a twenty-four day meeting to open at Phoenix, November 12. Mr. Kyne has returned from Arizona enthused over the prospects of the coming meeting. Other towns in Arizona, such as Prescott, are clamoring for three and four day meetings and it is expected they will be accommodated either prior to or following the Phoenix meeting. Kyne said two hundred horses are at Phoenix, with about one hundred more to come from Kansas, Texas, Nebraska and other states of the West. The citizens have shown much interest in the preparations for the sport and promise undivided support t6 the venture. In other years harness horses and runners have furnished entertainment at the State Fair, but there was not enough of the thoroughbred end of the sport to satisfy the fans. W. W. Finn, who was a judge and racing secretary at Reno, will preside in the stand at Phoenix. Most of the other officials at Reno will be at Phoenix.
