"The greatest winter meeting in the history of racing in this city" is the way everyone connected with the Business .Mens Racing Association is predictingjjfdr the racing that begins at the Fair Grounds tomorrow. The. , popular old course is. in thorough readiness entertain the big crowd that is certain to present when the bugle calls the horses the post for the inaugural dash. A wonderful program has been provided; and some grand racing should result. The ; New Years Handicap, with ,000 added, Juts; attracted a field of high caliber, with such Dr. Clark, Revenue, Moonrakcr, Best Pal, Rinkey, Barracuda, Setting Sun, Dclantc, O. Henry and other stars as probable contenders. At a meeting of the stewards of the Business Mens Racing Association Monday forenoon at the Fair Grounds, it was decided to make scratch time 12:30 p. m. daily. E. R. Bradley, representing the Thoroughbred, Horse Association, appeared before the stewards to. ask that horsemen have access to the scratches at the earliest moment possible. Other interests also appealed to the stewards, hence the new scratch hour. Jockey Earl Pool has been licensed to ride at the Fair Grounds and will ride the horses owned by Wm. Perkins. Sam Louis is an arrival from Kansas City, where he has been resting up since the close ,ot he Maryland-season. , ,., ji; flerr -AUnri.-nv !n TTv--j j stretch smd other horses, is an arrival from New Y-ork. J. McMillen, who has an extensive stable quartered at the Fair Grounds and of which Flint Stone is a member, is an arrival from Cleveland, Ohio, his home, to see his starter run in the New Years Handicap. The Fair Grounds infield, transformed into 1 a golf course, will be thrown open to the ! public following the close of the season at that track, March 5. On account of being unable to obtain stable ! accommodations for the nine horses that he has raced at Jefferson Park. William Perkins 5 will be forced to allow six of the number to remain at Jefferson Park during the re- - mainder of the winter.
