FAIR GROUNDS NOTES Joseph Leiter was among the visitors today. R. McGarvey has disposed of Avispa to E. McCown, owner of O. Henry, at a private sale. There was an increase of four operators in the ring this afternoon, forty-one layers quoting odds. Otto Terrell has disposed of the four-year-old filly Polly Leighton to W. V. Reeves at a private sale. The only two-year-old in the stable of W. A. Baumgartner is a bay filly by Colonel Vennie Crystal, that has been named Crystal Vennie. H. E. Brown, who has a small stable in training here, has taken a contract on apprentice E. V. C. Moore. Joe Umensetter has been awarded the name Maximaneh for his chestnut filly by Golden Maxim Kahrmaneh. Kay Spence, trainer of the Audley Farm Stable, has obtained jockey licenses for the apprentices II. Taylor, A. Dunne and G. Noel. Nominations for the A. B. Dade Memorial Handicap, named for one of the greatest starters in the history of racing, will close Saturday.
