AN OPINION OF IVAN PARKE "I have never seen Parkes equal as a rider," said Colonel James, well-known handicapper. "I have seen all the star jockeys in the country, past and present, and I know of none that combined the qualifications that Parke has. In most of the stars there was some defect some could only ride in front of free-running horses, others were weak finishers. Some failed to think fast enough when they found themselves in tight places and others were faulty in their judgment of pace. Parke seems to be devoid of any of these traits and can be depended upon to do the right tiling at the right time. He is truly a marvelous rider."
