MARY DEAR began fast and. taking the lead at once, showed the most speed, held it gamely through the entire race and just lasted to win. BIT O HONEY began somewhat slowly, but saved much ground on the turns into the stretch and, under hard riding, responded gamely and just missed getting up. MABEL C, probably best, was away slowly and when going fastest in the last eighth, was forced back and came again near the end. NIGHT SHADE raced well. EFFORT showed promise. Won handily; second and third driving. STARGO began slowly, but moved up steadily and. coming with a rush through the stretch, took the lead in the last seventy yard3 and wen going away. LADY CHOCO raced into the lead on the last turn and stood the final drive gamely. VULTILLA ran -well, but began swerving out in the last sixteenth and was lucky to be third. ZANZIBAR was forced back in the first eighth and was gonig well at the finish. BELLE K. closed a big gap. BALDINE was always outrun. DUNOON acted badly at the post and quit after going a half mile. RINKEY followed KING ONEILL II. closely until reaching the stretch, where she was bumped sharply by the latter, but passed him into a clear lead, then had to do her best from near the end to outstay THORNDALE. The latter raced as if best, was away slowly, but closed a big gap and finished fast and gamely. KING ONEILL II. set a fast pace, but began tiring in the last eighth. BRILLIANT CAST retired after going a good half mile. The others were always far back after going the first quarter. Overweight Flitlow, 3 pounds. FOURTH RACE 3-4 Hile. Feb. 9, 1918 1:11 6 116. Won easily; second and third driving. MOONRAKER rushed into the lead soon after the start and, setting a fast pace, was given an excellent ride in the stretch and held BEST PAL safe. The latter ran a good race and although he swerved in the stretch finished gamely. CERTAIN was allowed to drop back at the start and only ran fairly well. OUI OUI was always far back. The latter showed improved form and the most speed from the start, and only succumbed in the last stride. TONY BEAU gained fast in the last eighth. THE ARCHER showed speed, but retired after reaching the stretch. WIDGEON was far back for the entire race and 1 unfit. Scratched 76151 Deadlock. 103. WINNER TAKE ALL was forced to race wide on the first turn and J also suffered from interference on the backstretch, but moved up swiftly in the stretch and was going fatcst at the end. DUSTABOUT raced well and had no mishaps. OLYNTHUS was always beaten, but finished well. EPISODE quit badly in the stretch.
