THELAN began slowly and was in close quarters uutil rounding the last turn, where he secured a clear course, then quickly passed RIPOSTA and was easing up at the finish. RIPOSTA raced into a long early lead, but tired badly when challenged. KENTMERE was ridden wide on the turns, but finished gamely. LITTLE POINTEIt showed speed, but quit in the stretch. HUG II IE. close up from the start, was taken out in the middle of the track when entering th stretch and raced into a good lead, but tired badly and just lasted long encugh to withstand QUEEN MAZONIAS challenge. The latter worked her way up steadily on the inside and was going fast at the end. KITTY CARPENTER lacked early speed and came wide on the stretch turn, then gained rapidly and would have won in u few more strides. SPRING VALE quit after leading for nearly a half mile. The latter took the lead with a rush when entering the stretch, but tired in the last eighth. ANNETTE TELLER ran well and outfinished ADELANTE.
