INDIAS BIG STAKE RACES " Orange William, an English-Bred Gelding, Takes Both Cup Races at Calcutta Meeting. The Royal Calcutta Turf Clubs two big races, the King Emperors Cup, one mile, and Viceroys Cup, were run during December and both were won by Orange William, a chestnut gelding foaled in England in 1917. He raced in that country at two, three and four years, and was then sold to go to India. This was his second win in the King Emperors Cup, and he put up record time for the race ; also for the Viceroys Cup, in which he ran the mile and three-quarters in 2:595. Solo Bridge and Quarryman were the minor place-getters in the mile, and Vale of York and Sweet Adare in the Viceroys Cup. Countess Lena, dam of Orange William, was bred in Hungary, and taken to England when she was three years old. She is by" Bona Vista from Countess Helena, by St. Angelo.
