IMMENSE ATTENDANCE Sees Right On Time Win the EI Encanto Handicap. Finishes Length in Front of Moun tain Lassie After Fast and Thrilling Contest. HAVANA, Cuba, Feb. 17. Before an. Immense crowd Right on Time won the El Encanto Handicap, the sixth and feature attraction of Sundays program at Oriental Park. W. R. Coes Mountain Lassie was a. slight favorite in this race, Right on Time and Marionette not lacking admirers. It was Mountain Lassie that first showed in front and a fast pace she set, with Right on Time and Topango in nearest pursuit. There was little to choose between them until the far turn was reached, when RighC on Time, challenged and the pacemaker was unable to successfully withstand it, tiring and giving way in the last sixteenth. With Mountain Lassie eliminated Right on Timu drew clear right at the end. The pair was so far In front of the others that Mountain Lassie found no opposition for second place. Topango finished third, tiring badly in a vain endeavor to overtaka the flying leaders. There was a pronounced upset in the opening dash when April easily took the measure of tho odds-on favorite Ring Rose. April led all tho way, with Ring Rose in vain pursuit, but never able to overtake tho flying leader. At the end April was two lengths in advance of the favorite, which gained a, little in tho last eighth. The backers of favorites were more fortunate in the second race, for the veteran Forest Queen won from them after a good performance. She was away slowly and ou-run for half the distance, but gained rapidly in the stretch, caught and raced tho pacemaker into defeat in the last eighth and drew clear at tho end. Momentum, which had been prominent from the start, finished gamely though tiring, barely saving second place and the fast finishing Betty Mae. The third race was practically a duel between Biddlcdee and Stella Maris, the first-mentioned proving the better after a stubbornly contested stretch drive. Stella Mark! was the favorite and Callahan got her away quickly, opening up a good lead. Biddledeo was always in closest pursuit and when tho pacemaker showed signs of tiring in tho stretch, got up on even terms and then drew away right at the end. Seven three-year-olds made up the field in the fourth race and Trafalgar threatened to win, but quit in the last eighth after setting the pace from the start. The victor turned up in the Under Fire colt Firetoma. which carried Harned Bros. and Jones colors to success two length in frpnt of Ancestress, the latter outgaming Minus for second place.
