PARKE HAS REAL RIVAL - Stephen ODonnell Hot on Trail of Last Years Champion. . Each Ride Eleven Winners Last Week Callahan and Pickens in Battle Royal for Havana Leadership. Jockey Ivan Parke continues to add to his reputation as one of the most able and sensational young riders on the American turf. Last week he rode eleven winners and now has a total of eighty to his credit since the first of the year. It behooves Parke to maintain the pace he has been setting all winter as a formidable rival has developed in young Stephen ODonnell, riding at Tijuana. The latter has so impressed horsemen at the far western track that a number of offers were made for his contract and, finally last weeki S. Lando, of San Francisco, secured the coveted papers for 5,000. ODonnell divided the honors of the past week with Parke, each riding eleven winners. ODonnell has had twenty mounts less than Parke since the first of the year and ridden fifty-seven, twenty less than Parke. The veterans J. Callahan and A. Pickens are having a battle royal for the saddle honors of the Oriental Park meeting. Last week Callahan rode four winners and Pickens three, thereby giving the former a lead of tone in total winning mounts since January 1. G. Ellis met with marked success last week with seven winners to his credit. O. Pernia also did well with five and J. Corcoran with four.
