BLACK GOLD IS READY NEW ORLEANS, La., March 1. Black Gold, Mrs. R. IT. Hoots Louisiana Derby candidate, startled horsemen at Jefferson Park this morning with his sensational workout. Black Gold, carrying an exercise boy weighing close to 122 pounds, ran seven eighths in 1 :28. The fractions were : Quarter, 21; half, 48 ; three-quarters, 1:13; seven-eighths, 1:28, easing up.
