SUBSCRIBERS IN GRAB BAG Forty-nine Owners Take Seventy-two Subscriptions for Spa Stake. Unique Conditions of Saratoga Fixture Add to Interest in Event Horses to Be ISamed by August G. NEW YORK, N. Y., March 14. The Grab Bag Handicap, for two-year-olds, at three-quarters of a mile, with a guaranteed value of ,000, has always been one of the most popular of the minor juvenile stakes run at the long August meeting at Saratoga. The 1924 running has closed with seventy-two subscriptions from forty-nine different nominators. The Grab Bag conditions allow a subscriber to lease a horse for the running. This condition made it possible for R. E. Vickerman to lease Happy Thoughts from W. V. Thraves for the running of the Grab Bag last year, and the filly won the race for him. In this years list there is a good sprinkling of western owners, and the old rivalry between East and West at Saratoga is likely to be shown strongly in this race. Following are the conditions and subscribers for the 1924 running of the Grab Bag: GRAB BAG HANDICAP For two-year-olds. Nominated by subscribers on or before August G. 1924. By subscription of $."0; $."0 additional for starters. Guaranteed cross value, ,000, of which 00 to the second and 50 to the third, llorses may be leased by subscribers for this race. No limit to the number of subscriptions by any subscriber. Weights to be announced five days before the race. "Winners after the announcement of the weights to carry five pounds extra.
