EIGHTY-ONE IN EMPIRE CITY Big Yonkers Handicap Attracts Notable Array of Entries. Best of the Tear Are Made Eligible for the Big ,000 Offering for the July Race 31 ec tin p. NEW YORK, N. Y., March 26. The Empire City Handicap with ?5,000 added, for three-year-olds and over, at a mile and a quarter, is usually one of the high points o the summer meeting at the Yonkers course. This year should be no exception as the list of eighty-one entries just announced contains the names of the best horses of mature years which are now racing. Both Zev and In Memoriam, last years great rivals for the three-year-old championship, are among the nominations for the Empire City Handicap. It is within the range of possibility that these two might meet in this event and advance a step in the settlement of the question of supremacy, which was left more or less in doubt by the sensational match race between the pair at Churchill Downs last fall. But even if both should start, they will have no easy task to beat the other cracks that have been named for the race. The Greentree stables Untidy, which forced Zev to his best in the Lawrence Realization last year, is one of those entered. Charles II. Thieriots Prince James, a really formidable handicap performer when right, is another that might make it interesting for the Sinclair and "Wiedemann stars. MY FLAY A XI JIErHAISTOS. The Lexington stable has entered My Play, which is considered by many good judges to be among the best horses in the country at the present time. The consistent Hepha-istcs. which races for Frank E. Brown, is also in the list. The mention of the foregoing entries in the stakes will give an idea of the quality of those engaged, but there are plenty of other good horses in the list which is repro- duced in full below: EMPIUK CITY H A N" I 1 0 A P For three-year-olds and over, with ,000 added, of which ,000 to the second and $."00 to the third.
