Danny Maher rode his first winner of the English season at Liverpool on Grand National day. He was Lord Farquhars bay colt Airlie, by Ayrshire- Ernie, which won the Bickerstaffc Stakes, a mile race for three year-olds. Since negotiations with Fuller have fallen through, May is now trying to induce jockey Lyne to go East to ride Highball in his engagements. Lynes father, Sanford Lyne, will be at Memphis today, when an agreement may be reached. The third race at Memphis saw Witfull, Sam Hildreths crack filly, an easy winner over Captain Browns Audience and H. J. Perrys Coruscate, the only other starters. Fuller had the lrg up on Witfull and sent her along in last place to the stretch, where she went to the front and won easily. At Gravesend Mattie Corbett, who has leased a number of horses from the Keenes, was a spectator, while Jack Odom showed Dalesman, Dazzling, Hurst Park, Coppelia and Out of Reach to marked advantage. These horses will be ready for early racing. The Hampton .Stables Wotan got a seven furlong gallop in 1 :35, while the famous Africander, after galloping twice around the track, was sent a half mile in 53. Fred Burlew had his string out! bright and early. Beldame and Hello were worked five furlongs together, while Astarita and Charles Elwood were sent three-quarters. To cap the climax. Frank Taylor brought out McChesney, which, after a long gallop, worked half a mile in 53%.
