TURF NEWS OF THE DAY FROM PIMLICO BALTIMORE, Md., May 2 — Bobbie Bowers arrived from Kentucky. F. Lee resumed riding after a ten-day lay off. J. Merimee is an arrival to ride Mr. Mutt in the LMxie. C. Ktimmer has been engaged to ride Martingale in the Dixie. L. A. Cassidy, manager of Laurel and the Miami cotirses, was a visitor. Jewell V. D. was cut down making heo move in the last race yesterday. G. Babin reported from New York. He will ride King Solomons Seal in the Dixie. W. Karrick will ship W. R. Coes Lady Belle here from New York to run in the Oaks. Chacolet, Wuhu, and Elemental of the H. P. Headley stable will be saddled here by J. H. Stotler. R. Maxwell and Reeve Schley of New York and Byer Tuckerman of Boston were clubhouse visitors. James Rowe, Jr., arrived from Brookdale with Rialto and Flagstaff. Others are on the way from Red Bank, N. J. F. J. McKain, who is associated with the affairs of James Butler, is overseeing the Pimlico division of the establishment. John Schorr will ship E. B. McLeans stable to Louisville at the conclusion of the meeting. N. Huff will accompany the stable. E. F. Whitneys stable will be divided at the end of the meeting, a dozen going to Canada and the remainder to New York. Dr. C. J. Conway, a Baltimore physician, viewed the racing and is considering the purchase of a small string to carry his own silks. Tcher has been commissioned by Joe Cht-tarioch to paint a picture of Beg Pardon and expects to be called upon to do the Preakness winner in oils. I* Morris injured his left foot so badly when forced into the fence astride Golden Sphere yesterday that he will be unable to ride for some time. J. McMillen claimed Night Raider from G. W. Campbell for ,000 and the latter added J 1.000 to his receipts in claiming Mc-Kenna from W. P. Burch. Ivan Parke also arrived from Kentucky to ride Flaggstaff in the Dixie Handicap. Coltiletti will come on from New York to guide Cherry Pie. J. Corcoran will have the mount on Itialto, the third of the Whitney Greentree entry. Ivan Parke, the leading American jockey, will pilot Flagstaff in the Dixie and return immediately to Kentucky to ride the Green-tree Stables Rinkey in the Blue Grass Stakes at Lexington on Wednesday. Bowers also brought Corcoran with him. Mack Garner came from Kentucky to ride Chacolet in the Dixie Handicap. He will return to the Blue Grass Saturday night hut will be here again to pilot Wise Counsellor in the Preakness, May 12. Clifford Porter, agent for Garner, accompanied Mack from Kentucky.
