HAVRE DE GRACE STAKES WILL CLOSE AUGUST 18 " HAVRE -DE GRACE, Md., Aug. 15. The date set for the closing of the three 0,000 stakes that will be renewed here in the course of the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Associations ten days of racing September 24 to October 4, inclusive is August 18. Nominations will be received by Edward Burke, the general manager here, and by J. B. Campbell, successor of Martin Nathanson as racing secretary for the Harford fall meetings. The Eastern Shore Handicap, a dash of six furlongs for two-year-olds exclusively, will be the opening days feature, September 24. The Potomac Handicap, at one mile and a sixteenth for three-year-olds exclusively, will be run Saturday, September 27 and the Havre do Grace Handicap, a gallop of one mile and a furlong for three-year-olds and over, October 4, getaway day. There will be seven races daily, the purses ranging from ,300 to ,000, and five ,000 steeplechases. The Havre de Grace steeplechase course is one of the best in Maryland and steeplechasing is becoming popular here as it is in other parts of the Old Line State. . The nomination fee in the three Havre de Grace Stakes will be 5 and the starting fee 00 additional. In each race the portion of the second horso at the finish will be ,000, the third ,000 and the fourth 00.
