RECORD AVERAGE AT SALES f Forty -Five Xalapa Farm Yearlings Bring a Total of 65,900. What constituted a record-breaking sale of the season to date and one that probably averages highest per animal on thoroughbred yearling sales was established at the Xalapa sale, which was held here at the paddock under the auspices of the Fasig-Tiptcn Company Thursday night. Forty-five head were disposed of for the grand total of 65,900, averaging ,904 per head. Bidding on the different lots was brisk and a good proportion of the yearlings brought over five figures. The outstanding feature of the sale was the bid of 6,000 of William Zeigler, Jr., of Brooklyn, and which secured a brown son of Eternal and the imported mare Aquamarine. Mr. Zeigler was a liberal buyer during tne evening and when the final lot had been disposed of he had acquired three for a total of 8,000. A brother to the good Rancocas Stable filly Nedana went to that establishment on the bid of 5,500, which was the next highest price of the evening. The Parkview Stable, which will be the nom de course of Mrs. George B. Cox of Cincinnati, was the largest individual purchaser, securing nine. Mrs. Cox is the widow of the late George B. Cox, the theatrical magnate and politician of Cincinnati. The stable will be managed by Fred Gcode. Henry Oliver of Pittsburgh, steel magnate, was a liberal purchaser, securing eight head.
