MONTJOY STABLE SUCCESS Again Takes Feature Race at Maple Heights. Hughes Graham Carries Its Colors to Victory Friday Attendance Large Despite Threatening Weather. MAPLE HEIGHTS, CLEVELAND, Ohio, Sept 12. From the stable of T. V. Montjoy once more came the winner of the feature at Maple Heights Park, when Hughes Graham captured the fifth race this afternoon. Although carried to the extreme outside at the far turn, the son of Mont dOr Theo-dorita overcame this disadvantage, took command approaching the turn for home and thereafter the result was beyond serious doubt. Sister Sue raced prominently from the start but at the end was driving hard to outlast the fast-closing Seths Dream. The latter dropped back off the pace after going the first quarter but came again on the outside in the best going through the final eighth and finished strongly. The others cut little figure in the running. W. A. McKinney saddled his first winner during the meeting when Fair Rowena accounted for the sixth race. She took command after covering the first eighth, picked the best going on the outside during the run down the backstretch and held her opponents safe in the run home. Huckleberry Finn, finishing with a rush, outlasted Daddy Wolf for second place. Threatening weather conditions again prevailed but the attendance was the best of the week. The track dried out rapidly as the afternoon progressed. Working his way up on the inside through the stretch Dickie Dix, an outsider, captured the concluding race rather handily. Jockey Ford" Hunt commenced the afternoon well by piloting the first two winners. He took Monsoon into the lead after going three-eighths in the opening dash and, although closely pressed by Bill Block and Carrie Baker at the end, managed to retain his advantage. Ella C, the early leader, quit badly. After disposing of Riposta approaching the. turn for homo Elga drew away to a handy victory in the second. Riposta held on long enough to save second place from Maiden Voter, which finished with a belated rush. Following the running of this race Elga went to the stable of J. M. Booker via the claiming route for 00. Taking the lead at the start, Sweet Cookie showed the way throughout the running of the third by a comfortable margin. Get Em, racing close up most of the way, held second place safe. In the final strides Johnny Overton, got up to nose Blue Dale out for third place. Superanna proved to be much the best in the fourth race, led throughout and was never seriously threatened. Horace Lerch was doing his best at the end to save second from the fast-closing Belario. The latter was making his first start in a long time and showed a creditable performance. The ,000 handicap to be run tomorrow has been named the. Edward F. Geers Memorial in honor of the famous reinsman recently deceased. .
