BILL BLOCK raced forwardly throughout, but barely lasted to save second place. CARRIE BAKER closed up rapidly in the stretch and finished fast on the outside of tho leaders. RIPOSTA showed the most early speed and finished gamely, but was tiring at the-end. MAIDEN VOTER could never get to the two leaders, but finished resolutely. The other were-outpaced. Won handily; second and third driving DICKIE DIX began slowly, but worked his way up next to the inner rail in the stretch, and, overhauling the tiring leaders, won going away. CHILE came again in the stretch and finished resolutely TIGHT set the early pace and outfinished SAGAMORE in the final drive. SAGAMORE was shuffled back on the first turn and raced into the lead with a rush after going the first half mile, but tired in the last sixteenth. SPRING VALE tired and quit badly in the stretch.
