Won driving; second and third the same. DUCHESS II. followed the pacemakers closely, came around them in the stretch and wore down MIRYACHIT in the closing strides. The latter showed the most speed, but tired in the final drive. FORECAST II. began quickly and held on well throughout. HOI POLLOI began slowly, but moved around the others- in the final half mile and finished with great speed on the outside of the field. EL KANTARA and GLEN REAGH set all the pace until the latter lost his rider at the sixteenth jump, where RORKES DRIFT went to the front hard pressed by EL KANTARA and both horses fell at the seventeenth jump. FREDERICKTOWN was outrun but came around his opponents in the final half mile and would have won in a few more strides. ROSEATE II. tired at the end.
