AMPOLAC woiked his way up on the inside until entering the homestretch, where he was taken around the leaders, finished with great courage and outgamed HARLAN in the final drive. The latter forced the pace and hugged the inner rail the entire way and just failed to get up. MASTER BLUE was carried wide in the first half mile, but finished fast. OUT OF SIGHT tired badly when the real test came. PETER PAUL was cased up when he tired. Won driving; second and third the same. CALIGULA, trailed off the early pace until straightened out in the homestretch, responded with splendid courage when called on and got up in the final stride. ODD SETH, on the outside of the leaders all the way, was carried wide into the homestretch and just failed to earn the verdict. Small-wood made too much used of LEATHERWOOD and he tired in the last eighth and would probably have won. with a stionger rider up. WELLFINDER raced wide all the way. GYMKHANA carried FINLAND along at a rapid pace the first quarter and then raced ALEX WOODLIFFE into defeat rounding the far turn, but wds driving to the limit at the end to withstand the rush of RETIRE. The latter, taken to the outside when entering the homestretch, finished with a sensational burst of speed that just failed to earn the verdict. HURRY INN saved ground all the waj. SUNAYR was a keen factor all the way and withstood a determined challenge from RUSTIC for second place, but could not overtake the winner. RUSTIC came through next to the inside rail entering the homestretch after being under restraint for the first five-eighths, then tired in the last eighth.
